WATCH OUT !!!!! DENGUE IS IN SANTA CRUZ

Many people, in our country are infected with dengue most of the cases are in Santa Cruz. Hospitals and other health centers are collapsed and nobody does anything to control it. Yeah... I am talking about government authority.
The reason why I wrote this article is to help my students and their families with some information about this illness.
Dengue fever is a disease virus infection transmitted to humans by the Aedes mosquito and occurring in tropic and subtropic regions. The disease produces a triad of symptoms; fever, rash and severe , back pain . Manifestations of dengue usually occur in two phases separated by a day of remission. In the first attack, the patient experiences fever, extreme weakness, sore throat, and edema of the hands and feet. The second attack is marked by a return of fever and by a bright-red scarlatina form rash. Dengue is a self-limited illness, though it may take patient characterized by shock with collapse or prostration: cold extremities, a weak pulse, respiratory distress and all of the symptoms of dengue fever. Hemorrhage, bruises, small reddish spots indicating bleeding from the skin capillaries and bloody vomit, and urine may occur and precede circulatory collapse.

How to control it
One Method being used as a possible control of Dengue fever is the reduction and control of the Aedes mosquitoes.This mosquitoes are the principal vectors for spreading dengue. The peculiar behavior of the mosquitoes is circumspect for spreading the infection. Most mosquitoes feed once, allow time for digestion, and then feed again, but Aedes egypta has an insatiable appetite. It has been know to have multiple uninterrupted feedings. These mosquitoes are adaptive to the urban environment, breeding in tires, cans and water jars near human dwellings. In an attempt to curb their numbers, authorities in dengue hot zones are warning people not to allow any vessels in the open to collect standing water, upon punishment of monetary or judiciary actions in some areas. As with most illnesses, a mean of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Educating people to help themselves from getting infected is the best way to stop dengue fever.

The severity of the joint pain has given dengue the name "breakbone fever." Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite are common. A rash usually appears 3 to 4 days after the start of the fever. The illness can last up to 10 days, but complete recovery can take as long as a month. Older children and adults are usually sicker than young children.
What is the treatment for dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever?
There is no specific treatment for dengue. Persons with dengue fever should rest and drink plenty of fluids. They should be kept away from mosquitoes for the protection of others. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is treated by replacing lost fluids. Some patients need transfusions to control bleeding.
